Members of my guild got a surprise over the weekend when we logged
in to find our guild name changed to <Blizzard Europe - Game M>

http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/f4a8c7e106.jpg

I've no idea how that happened - I imagine someone at Blizzard
screwed up somehow.

It made my multiboxing a little more interesting - a paladin followed
by 4 identical shamans with a blizzard tag seemed to raise a few
eyebrows! I got a few more /waves than normal.

After opening a ticket and talking to a GM we managed to get
it changed back (after 2 attempts...).

If you do a /who on anyone in my guild they still show with the
Blizzard tag, but this will allegedly be fixed in the next
maintennace period.

Fortunately, nobody in the guild was silly enough to try to
impersonate a real GM, which could have caused problems.

Strange story.

Out of interest, do GMs wonder the world as real characters?

Not sure if they actually wander about, but they do sometimes appear as
real characters within the game. You can recognise them as they wear
robes that are specific to a GM, and of course the name above their
heads clearly says they are a GM too.

And when they talk, they now have a little icon "blizzard" next to they
name. Surely to make it clear that they are GM.

The new guild name of the OP is interesting, because IIRC, the ' - ' in the
name guild is not possible for common mortals.
