The Area Effect enhancement (p. B102) lets you set the radius of an
attack. Do such attacks really only affect an area (like spells do),
or is it more correctly a Volume Effect in that the effect fills an
entire sphere?
Cheers,

Guessing here, based on 3e spell areas...
The height of the area effect is 6ft/2yds. Each additional yard of
height increases the effective size of the area by 50%.

Magic, 4e, page 11, under Area Spells. First paragraph says 4 yards.

Well, yes, but that's for spells. It does not necessarily have any
impact on the Area Effect enhancement.

Hmmmmm... That isn't answered in either of the FAQs.
Considering that GURPS has rules for fighting at different levels, I'd
call it a 3D effect.

so, an obscure 10 ability affecting only one hex is only 1y in height?
dont think so. i would handle it like the area from magic. 4y sounds fine.
