I know it's not Tomb Raider, but I think it's the best game they've
made in years. I agree about the controls, though. The keyboard/mouse
controls are very awkward, but if you play with a gamepad/controller,
it's totally smooth and easy. I think it was designed that way and the
keyboard controls are an afterthought.
Still, the level designs are brilliant, IMO. The balance between
puzzle-solving, platforming and combat is just about perfect. The co-
op game is super fun, and there's lots of replayability built in with
various optional challenges. If they could make a big, third-person
Tomb Raider game like this, I would be all over it.

Hi Stella,
I must admit, the graphics are good. And it would play OK, if I could get to
grips with combat. Annoying thing is that I have a controller with left and
right sticks. And you seem to be able to use the right stick to control the
crosshair - but only when the FPS button is pressed. And when you do that,
other controls (like fire) stop working! Grrr... Perhaps I need to fiddle
around some more with the controller config. From what I can see, there is
no auto-aim function?
Good to know I'm not the last person left in here too. Was thinking about
switching the lights out!

It has been pretty slow around here, but I check in now and then and
try to reply if I have something to say. Maybe we should stir up some
kind of controversy to bring the lurkers out into the light.
FWIW, I use an Xbox 360 controller. The right stick aims Lara's weapon
(no crosshairs; she just aims wherever you point the stick in a 360-
degree rotation) and the right trigger fires. If there's a large group
of enemies, you can just lean on the trigger and rotate the stick to
spray the whole area with bullets, flames, etc., or just tilt the
stick at whatever you want to aim at and then fire. You're right
there's no auto-aim, but you do get used to it. Since everything
pretty much sits in the same plane, with Lara at the center, you don't
really need to aim too precisely. It also helps to turn off your Tomb
Raider reflexes, since the controls are so different--even from Legend-
Anniversary-Underworld. It's just another cool thing that happens to
involve Lara.
I know Guardian of Light isn't everyone's cup of tea. Some people just
prefer the solitary exploration aspects and find the combat intrusive.
This game has quite a lot of combat and almost no solitary
exploration. But the puzzles are fun, collecting all the artifacts and
relics is a nice challenge, and there is a certain amount of
satisfaction in toasting a whole room full of giant spiders, skeletons
or what have you.
Anyway, if you do decide to continue, I hope you enjoy it. Take care
and raid on!

Thanks Stella - this gives me hope. I will try again. Maybe I was getting
too hung up about the crosshair!

I think you do need the crosshair if you're tareting with the keyboard
and mouse (hold Tab to draw weapon and then aim with the mouse), but
if you use a dual-stick controller, it's much more fluid.

I like it a lot, like a tiny little toy Tomb raider game Puzzles
are fun, there's some fighting and jumping, little tiny bit of
exploring... Game was pretty short, hope there's gonna be some more
downloadable context (for PC),
Cooperative mode is fun, the puzzles are slightly different so that
they require two characters to solve them.
Playing it on PC but with Xbox 360 controllr, the controls are fairly
smooth, you can run around and jump, climb etc. without too much
stumbling and stopping...
