What the heck, figured I'd throw this out to a very quiet group Smile

I recently built a new computer for Win7. It's attached to a 24"
1080p HDTV with VGA and HDMI inputs and I'm currently using the HDMI

Installed NWN1, 1.69 patch, but the configurator decides that 800x600
would be best. Looks really odd, to say the least, as this results in
the game playing in a tiny square in a big black screen. Tried a few
other resolutions but they don't look right, either. Probably they
just never envisioned this resolution when desigining the game.

any ideas? Mostly checking to see who is still out there.

I installed NWN2, as well, havent tried it yet. Finally got around to
putting a quick launch bar back in, working on getting classic view
back. Interface changes are annoying

There's some info on this here:

Might be some help.

Thanks! I'll give that a try. Didn't see that when searching

Followup: Thanks, Mark, worked great! Displays fine on 1920x1080p.

Only issues I have is that it's a little hard to read some of the text
which is small at that resolution, and some of the inventory lines
look odd - some thicker than others.

For posterity, in case the linked website goes:

"To get widescreen working, one needs to edit X:\NeverwinterNights\NWN
\nwn.ini like this:

[Display Options]
Width=856
Height=480
BitsPerPixels=32
RefreshRate=60
SafeMovie=1

[Video Options]
Enable VSync=1

RefreshRate must be set to whatever one uses in Powerstrip, normally
60 (I'm using ATI's HDTV adapter).

The SafeMovie option is important, because without it, in-game movies
don't work (you end up with a blank screen while audio plays).

Notes: The intro movies do not play in widescreen, but the rest of the
game works fine. I recommend using 856 rather than 1920, and relying
on 4x antialiasing to improve the image quality. There is no
noticeable stretching in 16:9 widescreen."

Note, I used 1920x1080 and game play seems fine so far. Haven't tried
really demanding spots (eg, lots of NPCs battling, waterfalls, etc)
yet.

No worries Smile

It's _really_ hard to read the "names" over the character's heads when
you hit the Tab key. The "speech" text in conversation in the box in
the left upper corner is likewise hard to read.

I fiddled with the font settings (Windows 7) and the text in the
scrolling thing above the quick bar is now mostly readable, but I have
to squint a bit. Sometimes, I don't know exactly what I "said" in a
conversation choice until I chose one of the responses and read it
down below. I may just keep playing on my old machine for that
reason.

Haven't tried out NWN2 on the new machine yet.
