This might be old news, but the movie on the page above (which scales to full
screen very well) is rather impressive. I missed out on the second Stalker game
because I failed to get deep enough into the first to be captivated by the gaming
world.
Given my recent conversion to the Fallout3 cult I'm in no need of another FPS-style
fix, but I probably ought to revisit Stalker before Pripyat's released.

Looks good -- and It apparently went gold today so hopefully we can
expect a release quite soon.

I'm replaying the first now, using the Stalker Complete 2009 mod, which
upgrades the graphic quality quite a bit, but doesn't change the original
gameplay appreciably. The skies, weather, and nighttime are very lovely
now, and help player immersion.

I heartily recommend this as well, to date there has been no other game
that has been as immersing for me than STALKER with the STALKER Complete
mod. The nights during a thunderstorm are amazing.

I'm looking forward to this but I am really hoping for the majority of
the maps to be new areas - the swamps were a welcome change in Clear
Skies but we were quickly back into familiar territory. Don't get me
wrong - I like the familiar territory but I want to see more of the zone.
What really caught my eye though was "Players will also be able to play
STALKER in freeplay mode once its been completed". This has been long
promised and I'm hoping they'll finally deliver

*snap* I'm currently replaying the first game with the COMPLETE 2009 mod and
its pretty good.
I played through Clear Sky with the 1.5.10 patch recently and its more
stable now its patched but they cannot patch the game design
and basically it goes tits up towards the end and isn't worth playing. Even
though I was very annoyed with Clear Sky on its release I
may still give Call of Prypiat a go simply because there has been bugger all
to play on the PC front this year.

Hiya, hows things?
Its a great game alright. Its the only thing this jaded gamer has
played over and over again since the first HL
You have to check out the mods. The best of which is probably:

Shame you found bugs - I didn't have any at all. Strange how some games
react with certain systems..
Try the game again with the complete mod. You won't regret it.
Oh... did you get the 'proper' ending?

Haven't tried it yet but thanks for the recommendation - I'll add it to
the list. My problem is I don't game much now. I work abroad most of
the week leaving much less time at weekends to do all those things you
do in the week (visiting, jobs in the house/garden etc). I do have a
genuine list though and I will try.

There are a lot of badly behaved programs out there. Since 1995 they've
been told to use the user document directories to store stuff but they
still write into their own install directories.
